American golfer Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from the LIV Golf Mexico City event, citing a wrist injury. DeChambeau, a two-time LIV Golf winner this season, was lagging 16 strokes behind leader Jon Rahm after the third round. In a statement, DeChambeau explained that he experienced discomfort in his wrist during the previous round and decided to withdraw to avoid further injury.
He expressed his disappointment and wished his team, the Crushers, a strong finish. DeChambeau is expected to undergo evaluation and hopes to recover in time for the LIV Golf Virginia event.
Meanwhile, Mexico's Luis Carrera replaced DeChambeau in the Crushers GC line-up for the final round. This development comes amidst uncertainty surrounding the LIV Golf League's future, with reports suggesting the Saudi Public Investment Fund may end its financial support. LIV chief executive Scott O'Neil has stated that the league is funded through the season and will work to secure its future.
The next LIV Golf League event is scheduled to take place from May 7-10 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC.
