LIV Golf CEO Downplays Concerns Over Funding

LIV Golf's CEO, Scott O'Neil, has alleviated concerns about the series' funding, stating that it is financially secure for the current season and that the organization will work diligently to ensure its continuation. The breakaway golf league, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, has been at the center of speculation regarding potential withdrawal of financial support. Despite reports suggesting that the PIF may end its backing, estimated to be around $5 billion since the series' inception in 2021, O'Neil remains optimistic about the league's future. In a recent statement, O'Neil emphasized that the series has commitments in place to ensure its ongoing success and that it is not unusual for private equity-funded businesses to work towards creating a sustainable business plan. Earlier, O'Neil assured LIV staff that the current season would proceed as planned, without interruption. The PIF has not commented on the matter, while LIV Golf players, including Jon Rahm, have expressed confidence in the league's future, with some stating they are not overly concerned about the speculation surrounding the funding.
