Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

The prestigious Scottish Grand National title was claimed by Kap Vert, trained by Philip Hobbs and owned by Johnson White, as the six-year-old surged ahead of Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. With only his fifth outing over fences, Kap Vert demonstrated impressive stamina under the guidance of Sean Houlihan. Although inexperienced, his jumping technique was commendable, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost momentum after a critical error early in the home straight, eventually finishing fourth. A more significant blunder occurred when Git Maker made a mistake nearly a mile from the finish line, but the horse managed to recover, finishing second, just a length and a half behind the winner, and narrowly edging out the 4-1 favorite Kim Roque. Earlier in the day, Hobbs and White secured a second-place finish in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, but the £112,000 prize for the Scottish Grand National provided more than adequate consolation. Other racing highlights include Zavateri and Albert Einstein competing in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury, while Newbury tips favor Zavateri for a win in the Greenham Stakes. The Spring Trials weekend kicked off at Newbury, and other notable wins include Oxagon's success in the Craven Stakes for the in-form Gosden team at Newmarket, and Azleet's unexpected victory in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, making them a contender for the 1000 Guineas.
