Emma Raducanu Pulls Out of Madrid Open Due to Ongoing Fitness Concerns

Emma Raducanu has announced her withdrawal from the Madrid Open, citing her ongoing battle to regain full fitness. This decision comes after she also pulled out of recent WTA Tour events in Miami and Linz, prioritizing her rehabilitation. Raducanu, who is back in training, aims to return to competition at the Italian Open in Rome, scheduled to start on May 5. Her last match was at Indian Wells on March 8, where she lost to Amanda Anisimova. Raducanu has been working informally with coach Mark Petchey since parting ways with Francisco Roig in January. The Madrid Open has seen several high-profile withdrawals, including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Barbora Krejcikova. Raducanu's next scheduled appearances will be at the Italian Open, followed by tournaments in Strasbourg and Rabat leading up to the French Open.
