Augusta National Golf Tournament Results: Final Standings

The final standings for The Masters, the first major golf tournament of the year, are in. Held at the prestigious Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, this competition saw Rory McIlroy make history by defending his title. McIlroy emerged victorious after a thrilling playoff last year, becoming the sixth golfer to achieve a career Grand Slam and the first since Tiger Woods. World number one Scottie Scheffler was favored to win but ultimately fell short. McIlroy's one-under 71 secured his win, finishing just a stroke ahead of Scheffler. Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley tied for third place. The top 10 was rounded out by Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Max Homa, and Xander Schauffele. Patrick Reed and Shane Lowry struggled in the final round, with Reed finishing five under and Lowry slipping out of contention after an eight-over 80. The Masters is the first of four major golf tournaments in as many months, followed by the PGA Championship, the US Open, and The Open. The PGA Tour now heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, where Justin Thomas will defend his title. The next major, the PGA Championship, will take place from May 14-17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
