Red Bull Revamps Technical Team

In a bid to bolster its technical capabilities, Red Bull has unveiled a series of changes within its technical department, aiming to enhance its performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, a key figure in the team since 2017, has been promoted to chief performance and design engineer, overseeing an expanded leadership role and reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. Waterhouse's responsibilities will now span design and vehicle performance, a move that Red Bull believes will foster greater integration between these areas and accelerate the development of cutting-edge solutions. Additionally, Andrea Landi will join the team on July 1 as head of performance, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including a stint as deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari. Landi will report to Waterhouse. According to a statement from Red Bull, these changes underscore the team's commitment to its long-term technical objectives and reflect its dedication to nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from across the sport. Red Bull has faced a difficult start to the new era of F1 regulations, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points adrift of leaders Mercedes after just three races. The team has also experienced a significant exodus of key personnel in recent years, with several staff members defecting to rival teams. The latest departure is Gianpiero Lambiase, who will join McLaren in 2028. The F1 season resumes on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the second Sprint weekend of the season, live on Sky Sports F1.
