Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has advanced to her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then lost back-to-back service games. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to claim the set 6-4. The top seed dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will face Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead but Vekic fought back before Potapova claimed the first set. She continued to dominate in the second set, building a 4-0 lead to win her first match against Vekic in their last three encounters. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. Notably, Potapova, who will be representing Austria for the first time in the tournament final, has become the first Austrian to reach the final since the tournament's inception in 1991. Andreeva and Potapova will meet for the fourth time, with Andreeva having won their last two matches, although they have not played each other on clay before.
