The competition, held at Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, saw Rory McIlroy make history by successfully defending his title. McIlroy, the defending champion after his playoff win over Justin Rose the previous year, became the first player since Tiger Woods to achieve the career Grand Slam. World No 1 Scottie Scheffler was the pre-tournament favorite but ultimately finished a shot behind McIlroy, who carded a one-under 71. Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley were tied for third, while Collin Morikawa and Sam Burns shared seventh place. The top 10 was rounded out by Max Homa and Xander Schauffele. The Masters is the first of four majors in as many months in men's golf, followed by the PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open.
