Red Bull Revamps Technical Team

Red Bull has unveiled a restructuring of its technical department, aiming to intensify its emphasis on performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, who has been part of the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will assume the role of chief performance and design engineer, overseeing an expanded leadership position and reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. Waterhouse will now be responsible for design and vehicle performance, which the team believes will enhance integration between these areas and expedite the development of competitive, high-performance solutions. Additionally, Andrea Landi will join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance, bringing his experience as deputy technical director and his prior work at Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance. Landi will report to Waterhouse. According to a statement from Red Bull, these changes align with the team's long-term technical objectives and demonstrate its commitment to nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from the sport. The team has faced a tough start to the new era of F1 regulations, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes after just three races. The team has also experienced the departure of key staff members to rival teams in recent years, including the impending loss of Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer and head of racing, who will join McLaren in 2028. The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, is set to take place on May 1-3, live on Sky Sports F1.
