Rangers Stage Thrilling Comeback to Keep Pressure on Hearts

Rangers produced a stunning turnaround at Falkirk to remain firmly in the Scottish Premiership title hunt with five games left to play. Having started the day in third following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday, Danny Röhl's side seemed to be facing an uphill battle when Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats gave Falkirk a 2-0 lead. However, Tochi Chukwanui's goal before the break and a blistering start to the second half, which saw Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin score, allowed Rangers to take a 3-2 lead. Bojan Miovski added a fourth before Falkirk's Calvin Miller scored from the penalty spot, but Rangers' title credentials shone through as Miovski and Chermiti both scored again to seal the win. This result puts Rangers back into second place, just a point behind leaders Hearts, with Celtic two points further back. The Premiership's top three had all won on the same weekend only once before this season, a record Rangers were determined not to end. Chukwuani's contentious finish just before half-time sparked an incredible comeback. The home team appeared to stop play in anticipation of a goal kick after Raskin's cross curled over, but the ball landed on Djeidi Gassama's head, whose header hit the post before Chukwuani converted the rebound. The introduction of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break was a pivotal change by Röhl. Gassama, moved to the left, won the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box, and his low cross was flicked home by Chermiti. Rangers posed a greater threat and took the lead in the 52nd minute when Raskin ran round the outside of Aasgaard and hit the Norwegian's pass first time into the far corner. Chermiti missed another chance before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home with a cross from the left. Falkirk got a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller netted from the spot after Tavernier brought down Filip Lissah. However, Raskin was involved again when Rangers restored their two-goal cushion, bursting forward before Chermiti netted after Gassama's shot was blocked. The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait. Miovski rounded off the scoring two minutes from time when he converted Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. Rangers head coach Danny Röhl praised his team's reaction after a difficult start, highlighting the great spirit and connection between the supporters and the team. He reflected on the club's direction and the importance of believing in what the supporters have to say.
