Double Injury Setback for England in Women's Six Nations
A significant blow has been dealt to England's Women's Six Nations ambitions with the news that Morwenna Talling and Natasha Hunt will play no further part in the tournament due to leg injuries sustained during the 33-12 victory over Ireland at Allianz Stadium. The injuries occurred in the second half of the match, with Talling being forced off after 43 minutes and Hunt lasting just 13 minutes after coming on as a substitute. This latest setback means that England will have to adapt, particularly in the lock position, where Talling joins a list of absentees that includes Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, and Rosie Galligan, all of whom are unavailable due to pregnancy. England head coach John Mitchell acknowledged the challenge, stating, "With the loss of four international locks, we might end up fielding a team of back-rowers by the end of the competition. However, there are various ways to approach the game, and if relying on back-rowers is what it takes, we will make it work." Talling and Hunt will remain with the England squad to consult with specialists before commencing their rehabilitation at their respective clubs, Sale and Gloucester-Hartpury. To bolster the squad, the RFU has confirmed the additions of Sydney Gregson and the uncapped Haidee Head ahead of the upcoming match against Scotland at Murrayfield.
