The prestigious Scottish Grand National title was claimed by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, thanks to Kap Vert's dominant performance, which saw him leave Git Maker and Kim Roque in his wake. Under the skilled guidance of Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old demonstrated remarkable composure and jumping ability, considering it was only his fifth outing over fences. In contrast, Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux failed to replicate his earlier success, committing a crucial error in the home straight that led to a fourth-place finish. Meanwhile, Git Maker's mistake almost a mile from the finish line nearly resulted in his rider, Jonathan Burke, being unseated, but he managed to recover and secure a second-place finish, narrowly edging out the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque.
This triumph served as a welcome consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and they will return to Somerset with the substantial £112,000 first prize.
