Carrick Remains Tight-Lipped on Rashford's Manchester United Future

Manchester United's caretaker manager Michael Carrick has stated that no decision has been made regarding Marcus Rashford's potential return to Old Trafford. The 28-year-old forward is currently on loan at Barcelona, with a £26m option to buy clause included in the deal. However, reports suggest that Barcelona are hesitant to make the deal permanent at that price. When questioned about the possibility of Rashford playing for United again, Carrick did not rule it out. 'Decisions will be made in due course on certain matters, and Marcus is in that situation,' Carrick said. 'At this point, nothing has been decided, but it will be at some stage because it has to be.' Rashford has scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances for Barcelona but has faced criticism for his recent performances. The England international was dropped for the second leg of Barcelona's Champions League quarter-final defeat to Atletico Madrid after a disappointing display in the first leg. Despite Barcelona's uncertainty over Rashford's future, United will not renegotiate the fee with the Spanish club. The Red Devils are confident they could receive a higher fee from another club if Barcelona refuse to meet the agreed terms. There is no expectation of Rashford returning to Old Trafford. Carrick also discussed potential recruitment, revealing that conversations have taken place regarding strengthening the left-wing position. United are keen to bolster their options ahead of a likely return to European competition next season. RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande and Everton's Iliman Ndiaye are reportedly among the players being monitored by United. 'There are decisions to be made, and timings are important,' Carrick said. 'My situation is one thing, but there will be conversations to come because it's natural. In terms of concrete plans, that's not something I've committed to, but we've certainly had discussions.'
