Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

In a thrilling display, Kap Vert claimed Scotland's most prestigious National Hunt prize, outpacing Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. Under the skilled guidance of Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old demonstrated remarkable strength and agility in his fifth outing over fences. Despite limited experience, Kap Vert's jumping technique withstood scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost momentum after a critical error early in the home straight, ultimately finishing fourth. Meanwhile, Git Maker's significant mistake nearly a mile from the finish line almost led to a rider fall, but Jonathan Burke managed to recover, securing a second-place finish just a length and a half behind the winner, while the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque took third. This victory served as a satisfying consolation for Hobbs and White, who had finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo earlier in the day, and they will return to Somerset with the £112,000 first prize.
