Chris Davies' Birmingham side, who had suffered three consecutive defeats prior to the match, dominated the game from the outset, with Wrexham struggling to mount a meaningful response. Vicente came close to scoring before the break, but was denied by one of Arthur Okonkwo's six saves.
However, Vicente made amends just four minutes into the second half, heading home Kai Wagner's cross to give Birmingham the lead. The home side doubled their advantage when Christoph Klarer capitalized on an error by Okonkwo to tap in from close range, securing Birmingham's first win in over a month. The defeat, Wrexham's second in a row following a 5-1 loss to Southampton, leaves them four points adrift of the top six with four games remaining.
Birmingham's Chris Davies praised his team's performance, saying, 'It was one of our best performances of the season, one of our best wins. We were very aggressive, first to the ball and played quickly.' Wrexham's Phil Parkinson acknowledged that his team had been outperformed, stating, 'The first half was a competitive game. We expected them to go direct, but he [Chris Davies] changed how they played.
