McIlroy Savors 'Incredible' Masters Victory

Rory McIlroy reflected on the challenges he overcame to claim his second consecutive Masters title, admitting it would have been disappointing to let a record-breaking halfway lead slip away. McIlroy became the fourth player in history to achieve back-to-back Masters wins, joining an elite group that includes Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. Despite building a six-shot lead at the halfway point, McIlroy found himself two shots behind Cameron Young during the final day after a difficult start. However, he regained his composure, carding four birdies to secure a one-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler and claim his sixth major title. McIlroy acknowledged the difficulty of winning at Augusta National, stating, 'I don't make it easy!' He noted that his early 20s were marked by more comfortable victories, but now, winning tournaments is a much harder task. The Northern Irishman expressed his delight at persevering and ultimately claiming the Green Jacket in his 17th and 18th appearances at the Masters.
