Joel Tomkins Leaves Catalans Dragons Due to Personal Circumstances

Joel Tomkins has announced his decision to resign from his position as head coach of Catalans Dragons, citing personal reasons. Tomkins, who had been in the role for almost a year, revealed that being away from his family had taken a toll on him. Following a recent period at home, he made the difficult decision to leave the team after just seven games into the Super League season, with the side currently sitting sixth in the standings. Initially, Tomkins had taken on the role as an interim coach but was later appointed permanently. In a statement, Tomkins expressed his gratitude to the club, stating, 'My time at Catalans Dragons over the past 18 months has been a valuable learning experience, both personally and professionally.' However, he noted that the distance from his family had become too challenging, leading to his decision to step down. Tomkins will be replaced by Ryan Sheridan, who will take over as interim head coach alongside assistants Micky McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce, starting with their next game against Warrington Wolves on April 18.
