England Women's Rugby Team Secures Impressive 87-4 Victory Over Scotland

England women's rugby head coach John Mitchell praised his team's 87-4 win over Scotland in the Women's Six Nations as 'special', following a challenging week leading up to the match. The team had a rocky start in their opening win against Ireland, and their injury list grew with Alex Matthews being ruled out due to a shoulder injury, adding to the list of players ruled out for the tournament, including Hannah Botterman, Morwenna Talling, Natasha Hunt, May Campbell, and Tatyana Heard. Additionally, Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, Rosie Galligan, and Lark Atkin-Davies are missing due to pregnancy, resulting in five changes to the starting lineup, including moving star Ellie Kildunne to the wing. Mitchell considered this the toughest test for his team, but it provided an opportunity for each player to prove themselves. The team rose to the challenge, scoring five tries in the first half and seven in the second, with Mia Venner and Haineala Lutui finishing off the scoring on their third and second Test appearances, respectively. Mitchell attributed the team's success to their 'courage' and ability to adapt to adversity, stating, 'That was a special performance, it's been a lot of moving parts over the last few weeks, with some of the players that are hugely valued in the team having serious injuries and the youngsters as well.' One notable player was back-rower Maddie Feaunati, who thrived in the team's focus on individual 'authentic' play. Former Scotland international Jade Konkel criticized Scotland's performance, saying, 'Scotland will be disappointed, of course, with that. Also, they can't use that as an excuse. They were not good enough today.'
