Britain Stuns Australia, Secures Spot in Billie Jean King Cup Finals

The British team, led by captain Anne Keothavong, secured their spot in the finals with a dominating performance in Melbourne. Jodie Burrage and Harriet Dart sealed the victory with a straight-set win in the doubles match against Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez. The pair overcame a slow start, trailing 3-1 in the first set, before winning five consecutive games after the roof was closed on John Cain Arena. They then served out the match in the second set, securing a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Burrage and Dart's win followed impressive singles victories from Harriet Dart and debutant Mika Stojsavljevic on Friday, which put the team in charge. Despite Katie Swan's defeat in the final rubber due to a back issue, Britain's overall performance was enough to secure their spot in the finals. The team will now head to Shenzhen in September to compete against the other qualifier winners and host nation China. Captain Keothavong expressed her pride and joy, stating that the team is 'due something special' after reaching the semi-finals last year. With a strong squad and a bit of luck, Keothavong believes that Great Britain has the potential to win the Billie Jean King Cup.
