Former Formula 1 world champion Nigel Mansell believes Lewis Hamilton has regained his momentum this season. Hamilton recently ended his 16-month drought without a podium finish, placing third at the Chinese Grand Prix, his first top-three finish since joining Ferrari in 2025.
The 41-year-old has also significantly closed the gap with his teammate Charles Leclerc in terms of pace, following a challenging previous season with the older generation of F1 cars. According to Mansell, the new regulations seem to favor Hamilton's driving style, and he doesn't rule out the possibility of Hamilton winning a race this season. "Lewis is re-energized and performing exceptionally well," Mansell stated in an interview with Sky Sports News. Hamilton attributes his resurgence to better mental and physical preparation, which has contributed to his return to form.
Mansell praised Ferrari for their outstanding work during the winter, positioning them as strong contenders alongside Mercedes and McLaren. Hamilton expressed that the previous year's car didn't suit his driving style, but this year's car is a new beginning, with some features he requested being incorporated.
The F1 season is heating up, with the Miami Grand Prix scheduled for May 1-3, and the battle for the championship is expected to be intense, potentially becoming a two-horse race between Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.
