Revolutionizing Sports: A New Era of Inclusive Kit Choices for the Next Generation
A staggering 64 percent of girls abandon sports by the age of 16, often due to ill-fitting and uncomfortable kits that exacerbate insecurities and fuel anxiety. However, change is on the horizon as athletes' voices are being heard, and manufacturers and governing bodies are responding with more inclusive kit choices. England Netball international Razia Quashie has witnessed the positive impact of these changes, which now offer players a range of options beyond traditional netball dresses, including leggings, varied-length shorts, skorts, and longer vests. This shift towards comfort and inclusivity is not limited to netball; other sports, such as football, hockey, and rugby, are also embracing innovative and female-specific equipment. The introduction of satin-lined scrum caps, for instance, is protecting the hair of female rugby players, providing them with the freedom to focus on their game without distractions. As the sports world continues to evolve, the hope is that these changes will not only improve the experiences of current athletes but also encourage more young girls to participate and stay in sports, ultimately reversing the troubling dropout trend.
