Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

Philip Hobbs and Johnson White triumphed in Scotland's most prestigious National Hunt event as Kap Vert dominated the competition, surpassing Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. With only his fifth outing over fences, the six-year-old consistently demonstrated strong form under the guidance of Sean Houlihan. Despite his inexperience, Kap Vert's jumping technique withstood scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost momentum after a mistake early in the home straight and finished fourth. A significant error by Git Maker nearly a mile from the finish led to a remarkable recovery, securing second place by just a length and a half, ahead of the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque in third. This victory brought Hobbs and White a £112,000 prize, a welcome consolation after finishing second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo earlier in the day.
