The top National Hunt prize in Scotland was claimed by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, thanks to Kap Vert's impressive victory over Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. With only his fifth start over fences, the six-year-old consistently showed strong form under Sean Houlihan's guidance. Although inexperienced, Kap Vert's jumping technique held up to scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost his chance after a mistake early in the home straight and finished fourth.
A significant error by Git Maker nearly a mile from the finish almost led to a fall for Jonathan Burke, but the horse recovered to finish second, just a length and a half behind the winner, and narrowly ahead of the 4-1 favourite Kim Roque in third. This victory was a welcome consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and took home the £112,000 first prize.
