Women's T20 World Cup Confirms Record-Breaking Total Prize Money

A 10 per cent increase in the total prize fund has been confirmed by the International Cricket Council for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with the tournament set to take place in England and Wales this summer. The winning team will receive $2.34m, while the runners-up will take home $1.17m. All participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of $247,500, more than double the amount from 2024. The tournament is just 60 days away, with England facing Sri Lanka at Edgbaston in the opening match. According to ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta, 'the growth of women's cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup to 12 teams, combined with a record prize pool, underlines our commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game.' The prize money for the top two teams remains the same as in 2024, but there was a significant increase of 134 per cent from 2023. The total prize pot for the tournament has grown to $8,765m, with the 33-match event being held across 24 days in seven venues. Tournament director Beth Barrett-Wild stated, 'the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be a landmark moment for the game - on course to become the most attended women's cricket event in history, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest-ever prize pot for a global women's T20 competition.' The trophy tour will begin at Lord's Cricket Ground before visiting qualified European nations and hosting cities ahead of the first match on June 12. The prize money breakdown includes $2,340,000 for the winners, $1,170,000 for the runners-up, $675,000 for losing semi-finalists, $31,154 for group match wins, and an assured $247,500 for all 12 teams.
