Dubois Claims Baumgardner is Intimidated by Potential Fight

Caroline Dubois believes Alycia Baumgardner is hesitant to face her in the ring later this year. Following her victory over Terri Harper to unify the WBC and WBO lightweight world championships, Dubois has been engaged in a verbal spat with the American boxer. Baumgardner is set to defend her IBF, WBA, and WBO super-featherweight titles against Bo Mi Re Shin in New York. Dubois has expressed her desire to fight Baumgardner, but thinks her opponent will struggle against Shin. 'She's fighting one of my past opponents, someone I've already beaten,' Dubois stated. 'I want her to win, as she's a prominent figure in the sport and knows how to promote a fight. That's why everyone wants to face her.' However, Dubois also noted that she thinks Shin will give Baumgardner a tough time, saying, 'I think Bo will expose Baumgardner's weaknesses. I hope Alycia can win, but it won't be an easy fight.' Dubois is increasing the pressure on Baumgardner to agree to a bout, saying, 'She doesn't want to fight me. Every time Alycia's name is mentioned, people bring up my name. They're calling for a fight between us, so I don't see why we shouldn't give the fans what they want.' Dubois will continue to verbally challenge Baumgardner, stating, 'I'm not trying to be the villain, I'm just confident in my abilities. I'm saying what I think, and I'm not afraid to express my feelings.' If a fight with Baumgardner can't be arranged, Dubois has other options, including a potential bout with Elif Nur Turhan, the current IBF champion at 135lbs. 'I don't think Turhan is a skilled fighter, but she's dangerous. The fight wouldn't be difficult, but it would be exciting due to the danger she poses,' Dubois said. 'I want to continue progressing in my career and be involved in the biggest fights. I've unified the championships, and I'd love to do it again.'
