Double Injury Setback for England in Women's Six Nations

A significant blow has been dealt to England's Women's Six Nations campaign with the loss of Morwenna Talling and Natasha Hunt due to injury. The pair sustained leg injuries during the team's 33-12 victory over Ireland, which drew a record-breaking crowd of 77,120 at Allianz Stadium. Talling, a lock, was forced off the field after 43 minutes, while Hunt, a replacement scrum-half, lasted only 13 minutes before being substituted due to injury. This latest setback adds to England's woes in the second row, with Talling becoming the latest casualty. Previously, Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, and Rosie Galligan had withdrawn from the tournament due to pregnancy. Following the Ireland match, England head coach John Mitchell stated, "With the loss of four international locks, we may end up fielding a team of back-rowers by the end of the competition. However, there are various ways to approach this game, and if needed, we will adapt and make it work with back-rowers." Talling and Hunt will remain with the England squad to consult with specialists before commencing their rehabilitation at their respective clubs, Sale and Gloucester-Hartpury. In response to the injuries, the RFU has confirmed that Sydney Gregson and uncapped player Haidee Head have joined the squad in preparation for the upcoming match against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
