Red Bull has unveiled a restructuring of its technical division, aiming to bolster its emphasis on innovation and performance. Ben Waterhouse, who has been with the team since 2017 as the head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. This new position will grant Waterhouse oversight across design and vehicle performance, which the team believes will enhance integration between these areas and expedite the development of high-performing solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team on July 1 as head of performance, transitioning from sister team Racing Bulls, where he most recently served as deputy technical director.
Landi, who has prior experience working for Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance, will report to Waterhouse. According to a statement from Red Bull, these changes are designed to support the team's long-term technical objectives and underscore its commitment to nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from across the sport. Red Bull has faced a difficult start to the new era of F1 regulations, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship after three races, 119 points behind early leaders Mercedes. The team has also experienced a string of key staff departures in recent years, with Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer and the team's head of racing, agreeing to join McLaren in 2028 upon the conclusion of his contract.
The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, will take place on May 1-3, broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.
