Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

The prestigious Scottish National Hunt prize was claimed by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, courtesy of Kap Vert's impressive victory over Git Maker and Kim Roque in the Coral Scottish Grand National. With only his fifth outing over fences, the six-year-old Kap Vert, ridden by Sean Houlihan, consistently demonstrated strong form. Although inexperienced, his jumping technique withstood scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who faltered after hitting a fence early in the home straight and finished fourth. A significant error by Git Maker nearly a mile from the finish saw him almost lose his rider, Jonathan Burke, but he recovered to take second place, beating the 4-1 favorite Kim Roque by a length and a half. This win served as ample consolation for Hobbs and White, who earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and they took home the £112,000 first prize.
