McIlroy Makes History with Back-to-Back Masters Wins

Rory McIlroy has become the first golfer to win consecutive Masters titles since Tiger Woods, after a thrilling final round at Augusta National. McIlroy, who led by six strokes at the halfway point, found himself two shots behind early in the final round but responded with crucial birdies to claim a one-shot victory. The defending champion's win sees him join an elite group of golfers, including Jack Nicklaus and Sir Nick Faldo, to have won multiple Masters titles. McIlroy's victory also marks his sixth major title, making him the 15th golfer in history to achieve this feat. The Northern Irishman avoided a repeat of last year's late collapse, where he squandered a four-shot lead, to take a two-shot lead into the final hole and secure the win with a two-putt bogey. McIlroy's final round of 71 saw him finish on 12 under, one shot ahead of Scottie Scheffler, with Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley tied for third. The PGA Tour now heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, while the next men's major is the PGA Championship, scheduled to take place from May 14-17.
