The final standings from the Masters tournament, the first major of the year, are in. Held at Augusta National in Georgia, the competition saw a strong defense of the title. Rory McIlroy, the reigning champion, made history by successfully retaining the championship, becoming the first player to do so since Tiger Woods. McIlroy finished with a one-under 71, just a stroke ahead of Scottie Scheffler, the world's number one golfer.
Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley all tied for third place, one stroke behind Scheffler. The top 10 was rounded out by Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Max Homa, and Xander Schauffele. The Masters was the first of four majors to take place in as many months, followed by the PGA Championship in May, the US Open in June, and the Open in July.
The PGA Tour now heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage.
