Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, got off to a strong start by breaking Ruse in the opening service game, but then faced back-to-back breaks on her own serve. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in her opponent's next service game to claim the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, and served out a 6-4, 6-1 win after an hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-final match. Potapova took an early lead, but Vekic fought back, only for Potapova to hold on and take the first set. She continued to assert her dominance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. Interestingly, Potapova's win makes her the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since 1991, although she represented Russia until December 2025. The final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two encounters, but it will be their first match on clay.
