This triumph marks the first time Sinner has beaten Alcaraz on clay since 2022 and extends his impressive 22-match unbeaten run at Masters tournaments. Sinner expressed his delight at achieving the No 1 ranking, stating that it means a great deal to him, while also acknowledging that the ranking is secondary to his overall performance. Alcaraz praised Sinner's achievements, congratulating him on his outstanding work with his team. The match, which was the 17th professional meeting between the two tennis superstars, was not a classic due to the difficult conditions, with both players struggling to raise their level.
