Adam Peaty Claims British 100m Title, Sets Sights on 2028 Olympics

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty secured the 100 meters breaststroke title at the British Swimming Championships, setting his focus on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. His time of 58.97 seconds ranks as the second-fastest globally this season, indicating a strong potential for medal contention in two years. Peaty led the pack, finishing ahead of world junior champion Filip Nowacki and Max Morgan. Despite his victory, Peaty acknowledged room for improvement, stating, 'I didn't expect that result, so that sets the baseline. Now, we need to work on achieving a sub-57 second time.' The six-time Olympic medalist expressed his commitment to the sport, training daily and striving to optimize his performance. This win comes almost a year after Peaty confirmed his decision to continue competing. Having won Olympic gold in the 100m breaststroke at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games, Peaty took a break in 2023 due to mental health concerns. At the 2024 Paris Games, he settled for silver in the 100m breaststroke. If successful in 2028, Peaty could become the oldest British swimmer to claim an Olympic gold medal at the age of 33.
