Manchester City Offers Support to Antoine Semenyo After Recent Racist Abuse

Manchester City is providing support to Antoine Semenyo following the forward's revelation of further racist abuse he has endured this season. Semenyo, 26, shared a screenshot of the abusive comment on his Instagram story, stating 'It's started again'. This incident follows an earlier occurrence during the season's opening match against Liverpool, where Semenyo, then playing for Bournemouth, reported being racially abused by a supporter, prompting referee Anthony Taylor to halt play. The Ghana international scored two goals in the 4-2 defeat. A 47-year-old man, Mark Mogan, was arrested and charged by Merseyside Police with a racially aggravated public order offense, which he denied in December. A trial is set to take place on April 22. The Premier League has condemned the latest incident, stating, 'We are appalled at the unacceptable online racist abuse targeted at Antoine Semenyo and have offered our support to the player and club. Racism has no place in our game or anywhere in society.' The FA has also expressed its support, emphasizing that it will work with clubs, football bodies, law enforcement, and social media companies to address the issue and ensure that individuals found guilty of discrimination face severe consequences. Sky Sports is committed to maintaining a hate-free environment on its platforms, encouraging users to report any instances of hate speech or abuse.
