Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright expressed feelings of betrayal and disrespect following his unexpected exit from the club. Despite this, Cartwright claims he has yet to receive an explanation for the decision. In an interview, Cartwright stated that he was informed of the club's decision to part ways, with a six-month termination clause being exercised, but was not provided with a reason. Cartwright, who took over as head coach at the start of the 2025 campaign and led the team to a seventh-placed finish, their highest since 2020, emphasized his commitment to his job and the players, saying, 'My loyalty and my bond with the players are something that can never be taken away.' With the club already searching for a new coach for the 2027 season, Cartwright will see out the remainder of his contract, currently sitting ninth in Super League with three wins and four defeats from their first seven matches.
