Alycia Baumgardner believes Caroline Dubois needs to further establish her reputation as a champion before she considers a fight against the unified lightweight world champion. Baumgardner is set to defend her unified WBA, WBO, and IBF super-featherweight world titles against Bo Mi Re Shin.
Following Dubois' recent victory over Terri Harper, she called out Baumgardner for a high-profile match. However, Baumgardner thinks Dubois should continue to build her legacy and prove herself as a champion before they can discuss a potential fight.
Baumgardner stated, 'She needs to put some more skin in the game... I've shown plenty of times that I put on great shows and I became undisputed.' Dubois may have other options, including a potential fight against Stephanie Han, who is set to face Holly Holm in a rematch for the WBA lightweight title. Meanwhile, Baumgardner could become the undisputed champion at super-featherweight again, with WBC belt-holder Caroline Veyre expressing interest in a fight against her.
Dmitriy Salita, Veyre's promoter, said, 'We're absolutely open to it and would like to move quickly to make the fight happen.' Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promoters, also discussed the company's plans to establish a strong roster of female boxing talent, with the goal of becoming the reference brand for women's boxing.
