Skelton Savors 'Incredible' Achievement as Champion Trainer

Dan Skelton has expressed his thrill at finally achieving the champion trainer title, after it became mathematically certain that he could not be overtaken. Having been narrowly beaten by Willie Mullins in the previous two seasons, Skelton has dominated this season, breaking the £4million prize-money barrier. 'It's truly amazing,' Skelton said. 'We've worked tirelessly over the past few years to get close, only for Willie to snatch it from us at the last minute. It's fantastic to have finally achieved it.' Skelton's current total stands at £4,762,920 for the season, following a successful Grand National Festival. He praised his team, staff, and owners, saying, 'It's a great reflection on everyone's efforts this year. The horses have been brilliant, and I'm grateful to the staff and owners who have supported me.' With Mullins' challenge fading in the final weeks of the season, Skelton is set to receive the trophy at Sandown Park on April 25. He received a congratulatory message from Mullins after his Grand National win with I Am Maximus, and is now free to enjoy his victory.
