Adam Peaty Claims British 100m Title, Sets Sights on 2028 Olympics

Adam Peaty, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, secured the 100 meters breaststroke title at the British Swimming Championships, fueling his ambitions for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Peaty's impressive time of 58.97 seconds, the second-fastest globally this season, indicates he is on track to contend for medals in two years. He outperformed world junior champion Filip Nowacki and Max Morgan, finishing in 59.39 and 59.56 seconds, respectively. Despite his success, Peaty believes there is still room for improvement, stating, 'I didn't think I could achieve that result, so it's now the baseline.' The six-time Olympic medalist aims to shave off seconds to achieve a time below 57 seconds. Peaty, who has been training diligently, expressed his passion for swimming and his commitment to the sport. It has been nearly a year since Peaty announced his decision to continue competing, following a break due to mental health concerns and a 'self-destructive spiral.' At the 2024 Paris Games, Peaty won silver in the 100m breaststroke event, hindered by physical issues, including a Covid-19 diagnosis. If he wins gold in 2028, Peaty will become the oldest British swimmer to achieve this feat at the age of 33.
