Marco Rose is reportedly the top contender to take over the Bournemouth managerial position. The club has compiled a shortlist of three potential candidates to replace Andoni Iraola, which includes Kieran McKenna from Ipswich.
Following the confirmation of Iraola's departure at the end of his contract, Bournemouth aims to swiftly appoint his successor. Rose, who was let go by RB Leipzig in March 2025, is considered the key figure to watch.
Meanwhile, McKenna remains focused on securing promotion to the Premier League with Ipswich. Although Inigo Perez, Iraola's former assistant, is admired by Bournemouth, he is not currently on the three-man shortlist.
Iraola, who took the reins at the Vitality Stadium in June 2023, led the team to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season, setting a new club record for points. With Iraola's contract expiring in the summer, the club had attempted to negotiate a new deal but has accepted his decision to leave.
Iraola has been linked to a return to Athletic Bilbao and the Manchester United job. In a statement, Iraola expressed his gratitude to the players, staff, and fans, citing the right moment to step away. The club now faces the challenge of replacing Iraola, with Rose emerging as a strong candidate due to his experience and footballing philosophy, which aligns with Iraola's style.
