Red Bull Revamps Technical Team

Red Bull has unveiled a series of changes to its technical department, aimed at intensifying its commitment to performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, who has been with the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will assume an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. This move is expected to enhance the integration of design and vehicle performance, thereby accelerating the development of high-performing solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1, taking on the role of head of performance and reporting to Waterhouse. Landi brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked as deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and deputy head of vehicle performance at Ferrari. According to a Red Bull statement, these changes underscore the team's long-term technical objectives and its dedication to fostering internal talent while attracting top expertise from the sport. The team has faced a challenging start to the new era of F1 regulations, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind leaders Mercedes. Red Bull has also experienced a significant exodus of key staff members to rival teams in recent years, including the impending departure of Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer and head of racing, who will join McLaren in 2028.
