Rose Reflects on Missed Opportunity as Scheffler and Hatton Make Strong Finishes

However, his momentum was halted by consecutive bogeys at the 11th and 12th, and he failed to capitalize on a superb second shot into the 13th, three-putting for par. This allowed Rory McIlroy to overtake Rose, who ultimately finished in a four-way tie for third on 10 under, two strokes behind McIlroy. Rose acknowledged being in control initially but felt the momentum shift against him around Amen Corner. Despite two bogeys, Rose believed it was his par at the 13th that ultimately cost him his first Masters victory. He praised the patrons at Augusta National for their support throughout the week. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler secured second place behind McIlroy on 11 under, having trailed by 12 shots going into the weekend. Scheffler achieved the remarkable feat of not dropping a shot all weekend at Augusta National. Tyrrell Hatton also made a strong finish, emerging from the pack with a tremendous run on the back nine to finish with a six-under 66 and a share of third place. Hatton was motivated by the prospect of returning next year with his newborn daughter, saying it would be amazing to see her in a boiler suit at the Par-3 tournament.
