Andoni Iraola to Depart Bournemouth as Club Shortlists Three Potential Replacements

Bournemouth's head coach, Andoni Iraola, has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the current season. According to Sky Sports News, a shortlist of three candidates has been compiled to succeed Iraola, with former RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose being one of the contenders. Iraola's contract is set to expire in three months, and despite receiving numerous offers to extend his stay, he has chosen to step down. The coach has six remaining games with Bournemouth, including a home match against Manchester City on May 17 and an away game against Nottingham Forest on the last day of the Premier League season. Bournemouth had attempted to persuade Iraola to stay, but he opted to wait until later in the campaign to engage in meaningful discussions about his future. The club has been searching for a new head coach in the background and has identified three favored candidates. Bournemouth currently sits 11th in the Premier League table and still has a chance to qualify for European competition. Iraola has been a popular figure at the club since his appointment in June 2023, implementing an attacking style of football. He will depart as one of the hottest coaching prospects in the Premier League, with several clubs, including Athletic Club and Crystal Palace, reportedly interested in his services. Iraola spent 12 years playing for Athletic Club and was captain of the team that knocked Manchester United out of the Europa League in 2011/12. His future plans remain uncertain, with Tottenham having appointed Roberto De Zerbi and Manchester United yet to make a decision on their next head coach.
