Bromley Miss Opportunity for Promotion After Goalless Draw with Cambridge
Bromley's bid for promotion to League One has been put on hold following a 0-0 draw with Cambridge United at Hayes Lane. The visitors had two early chances to take the lead, with Ben Knight and Dominic Ball both shooting wide from promising positions. Bromley's first scoring opportunity came after 25 minutes, but Omar Sownunmi's header sailed over the crossbar with Jack Walton beaten. Cambridge continued to threaten, with Shayne Lavery hitting the bar from Adam Mayor's cross on the half-hour mark. The second half was slow to get going, but Knight's powerful drive on the angle forced a sharp save from Grant Smith. This sparked the hosts into life, with Ben Thompson and Jude Arthurs both having efforts saved or deflected. With 10 minutes remaining, Smith made a superb save to tip Kelland Watts' header over, but despite a late scramble, neither side could find a breakthrough.
