Draper Forced to Retire Due to Injury in Barcelona Opener as Norrie Advances

Jack Draper's clay-court season got off to a disappointing start as he was forced to retire due to an injury in the decisive third set of his first-round match against Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry at the Barcelona Open. Despite initially taking the first set 6-3, Draper struggled with his mobility and eventually had to withdraw from the match, trailing 4-1 in the third set. Draper, who is ranked higher than Etcheverry, had begun the match strongly but was visibly hindered by a knee issue from the start of the second set. Norrie, who will face American Ethan Quinn next, credited his mental toughness for the win, saying he had to 'dig deep' after not feeling physically well during the match.
