Cartwright Feels Betrayed by Hull FC Following Unexplained Exit

Australian coach John Cartwright has spoken out about feeling "betrayed and disrespected" by Hull FC after the club announced his exit without providing him with a reason. The decision was made public on April 7, with Cartwright's contract set to end at the conclusion of the current Betfred Super League season. Despite his efforts to understand the reasoning behind this choice, Cartwright remains in the dark. In a recent interview, he stated, "The club has decided to part ways with me at the end of my contract, and a six-month termination clause will be exercised. I still haven't received an explanation, and I'm looking forward to discussing this further in the near future." Cartwright, who took the reins at the MKM Stadium in 2025, led the team to a seventh-place finish, their best result since 2020. The club has already begun searching for a new coach to start in the 2027 season, with Cartwright vowing to continue performing his duties professionally. He emphasized his commitment to the players and the team, saying, "My loyalty and bond with the players can never be taken away." With three wins and four defeats in their first seven matches, Hull FC currently sits ninth in the Super League standings.
