Norris Unveils McLaren's Strategy to Reclaim Title

Lando Norris is optimistic that McLaren can still mount a strong title defense when the F1 season resumes at the Miami Grand Prix, despite the team's sluggish start. Although Norris, the reigning champion, failed to secure a podium finish in the first three races, his teammate Oscar Piastri's second-place finish in Japan has boosted the team's morale. With almost five weeks to refine their cars, Norris believes that McLaren can turn their fortunes around and push for the championship. 'We can have a good season, even if we're not where we want to be right now,' Norris stated, emphasizing that the team will not give up and will instead focus on bridging the gap to Mercedes and Ferrari. Norris trails early championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 47 points but remains confident that the team can learn from past experiences and improve their performance. Ensuring the reliability of their car and Mercedes power unit is a key area of focus for the team. Norris highlighted the importance of track time and getting laps on the board to understand how to get the most out of the car. The team is utilizing the break between Japan and Miami to work on their sim and conduct a tyre test at the Nurburgring. Piastri also expressed confidence in the team's ability to get back into regular victory contention, stating that closing the gap to Mercedes and out-developing the field is within their control.
