Red Bull Revamps Technical Team

Red Bull has unveiled a restructuring of its technical department, aimed at bolstering its commitment to performance and innovation. Ben Waterhouse, who has been a part of the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, will take on an expanded leadership role as chief performance and design engineer, reporting directly to technical director Pierre Wache. Waterhouse will oversee design and vehicle performance, which Red Bull believes will enhance integration between these areas and accelerate the development of high-performing solutions. Meanwhile, Andrea Landi will join the team from Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance, bringing his experience as deputy technical director and his previous work with Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance. Landi will report to Waterhouse. According to a Red Bull statement, these changes align with the team's long-term technical goals and demonstrate its continued focus on nurturing internal talent while attracting top expertise from the sport. Red Bull has faced a tough start to the new F1 era, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship, 119 points behind Mercedes. The team has also experienced a series of key staff departures in recent years, with Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's race engineer and head of racing, agreeing to join McLaren in 2028. The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, is set to take place on May 1-3, live on Sky Sports F1.
