Sinner Achieves 20th Consecutive Masters 1000 Victory, Alcaraz Reaches Semifinals

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has added another impressive feat to his resume, securing his 20th successive Masters 1000 win with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Felix Auger-Aliassime. This achievement places him alongside tennis legends Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. Sinner bounced back from a recent setback, where his 37-set winning streak was broken by Tomas Machac in the fourth round, to defeat the Canadian in straight sets and secure a spot in the semifinals. He is now closer to reclaiming the world No. 1 spot, currently held by Carlos Alcaraz, who took the top position from Sinner in November last year. Sinner expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, "I feel like it was a step forward today. It was a very tough match. I knew I had to improve in certain areas. My serve is not yet where I would like it to be, but overall, I'm very happy." He will face Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, who fought hard to defeat Brazil's Joao Fonseca 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3. Meanwhile, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz eased past Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-0 to secure his place in the semifinals, dropping just three games. Alcaraz is looking to defend his position in the world rankings against Sinner. Alcaraz dominated his match against Bublik, stating, "I started the match pretty well. I had opportunities to take a two-break lead but didn't capitalize, and then I lost my rhythm on the ball. I had to run a lot, defend, and then a few games gave me a lot of confidence in the match. I played aggressively and had a great, solid match against a player who can produce anything. I'm happy to advance and play another semifinal here." Alcaraz will face hometown hero Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals, who saved 13 break points before defeating Alex de Minaur 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in front of a roaring crowd, becoming the first Monegasque player to reach the last four at Monte Carlo. Vacherot expressed his excitement, saying, "It's an honor to be part of the semifinals with the three best players of the past few years. I look forward to playing Carlos in my hometown; it's amazing. The fans chanting are my best friends from when I was nine or ten years old. It's rare for a player to have this chance to have so many people around. I'm lucky to have a tournament in my club." Vacherot is projected to break into the top 20 when the ATP rankings are updated on Monday. Alcaraz was impressed by the 27-year-old's rise. The stage is set for an exciting semifinal, with Sinner facing Zverev and Alcaraz facing Vacherot.
