Mercedes Working to Improve Race Starts Ahead of Miami Grand Prix

According to George Russell, the Mercedes team is putting in significant effort to enhance their race starts, a crucial area for improvement as the Formula 1 season resumes in Miami. Despite securing four front row lockouts in the initial three Grands Prix and Sprint, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to take the lead after the first lap. The team's biggest weakness lies in their starts, but they have consistently demonstrated sufficient pace to bounce back and secure victories in the opening three races. Ferrari has shown exceptional starting prowess this season, attributed to their compact turbo, which enables quicker spin-up times and facilitates finding the ideal launch window. Although opportunities to practice starts are limited, Russell emphasizes that the team is diligently analyzing data to address this significant flaw. In an interview during Pirelli tire testing in Germany, Russell highlighted the extensive work being done behind the scenes, including simulator sessions and data analysis, to rectify their starting issues.
