Norris Unveils McLaren's Strategy to Defend Title

Lando Norris remains optimistic about McLaren's chances of defending their world titles as the F1 season resumes with the Miami Grand Prix, despite the strong starts of Mercedes and Ferrari in the new era. Although Norris, the reigning champion, has not achieved a podium finish in the first three races, his teammate Oscar Piastri finished second in Japan. With almost five weeks to work on their cars, Norris believes there is still an opportunity to turn the situation around. "I think we can have a good season, even if we're not where we want to be right now," Norris said. "We still want to push hard for the championship; this isn't a case of giving up and focusing on next year." Norris trails early championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 47 points. He emphasized the importance of addressing reliability issues and ensuring the team gets to the bottom of the problems affecting their car and Mercedes power unit. "We're not in a terrible position, but we've definitely got to work to get back in contention for wins," Norris added. Piastri also expressed confidence in the team's ability to get into regular victory contention over the remaining 19 races. "We have a lot of work to do to be back at the front consistently, but closing the gap to Mercedes and out-developing the field is something that's within our control," Piastri said.
